Danmark og Israel indgår aftale om IT og bioteknologi
Danmark og Israel har i dag indgået en meget stor og omfattende samarbejdsaftale inden for IT og bioteknologi - en aftale, som bliver meget værdifuld for såvel israelske som danske virksomheder, idet den bl.a. omfatter produktudvikling og salg.
Generaldirektør i Israels Industriministerium, Eli Opper og Videnskabsministeriets departementchef, Uffe Pedersen skrev onsdag i København under på den omfattende samarbejdsaftale.
Der oprettes en israelsk-dansk styregruppe, som sammen skal foretage vurderinger af ansøgninger fra virksomheder i Danmark og Israel - ligesom danske og israelske universiteter indgår i samarbejdet.
- Såvel Danmark som Israel er meget stærke, når det gælder IT og bioteknologi - begge lande er i international topklasse, og derfor bliver fusionen nødvendigvis meget værdifuld, siger videnskabsminister Helge Sander (V), som glæder sig over aftalen.
Danmarks ambassadør i Tel-Aviv, Carsten Damsgaard har tidligere udtalt, at en aftale mellem Israel og Danmark ville bedre forskningsresultaterne mærkbart, idet de to lande på forskellig vis virkelig har noget at bidrage med.
Det egentlige arbejde begynder i oktober måned, hvor et hold embedsmænd fra de to landes regeringer skal formulere retningslinjerne for det omfattende samarbejde.

During an IDF operation in the northern Gaza Strip in recent days, IDF forces received warning of intentions to carry out an attack against them. On the night between August 28 and August 29, soldiers spotted a Palestinian youth approaching them. The soldiers confronted the 15-year-old and discovered that he was carrying two explosive devices, which he apparently intended to detonate in a suicide bombing attack against the forces. The teenager was taken for questioning by security forces.

Højeste militære anerkendelse til israeler med dansk familie
Major Roi Klein, vicechef for Golan Infanteribrigadens 51. bataljon, har - post mortem - modtaget Israels allerhøjeste militære anerkendelse. Statsminister Ehud Olmert overrakte anerkendelsen til Roi Kleins hustru, Sara. Roi Klein blev dræbt i Libanon-krigen i sommeren 2006.
I kampen ofrede han sig selv, og reddede samtidig sine mænd, ved at kaste sig henover en håndgranat. Hans soldater i bataljonen fortalte senere, at Roi Klein, idet han kastede sig over granaten, udbrød: ”Shema Israel” - navnet på den bøn, som jøder i århundreder har bedt, når de har anråbt Vorherre. Major Klein blev begravet i Israel den 27. juli 2006.
Roi Klein, 30, var gift med Sara Sjalin - datter af tandlæge Noomi Sjalin (f. Levitan) og sociolog Bengt Sjalin, København (Sjalin er en hebraisering af navnet Schalimtzek, som er et kendt dansk-jødisk navn). De blev gift i Danmark, men udvandrede til Israel i 1980erne.
Major Roi Klein omkom i kampene ved Bint Jbail, en by i det sydlige Libanon, hvor yderligere syv israelere mistede livet, mens 25 blev såret. Han efterlader sig sin hustru, Sara, samt to sønner, Gilad på tre og Yoav på et år.
